What We Do

Air Theory pattern

We help buildings breathe better.

Air Theory partners with architects, builders, and developers to design mechanical systems that perform quietly, efficiently, and without compromise. Whether your project is residential, civic, or commercial, we bring ventilation and building services into the conversation early — ensuring everything aligns with the architecture, performance targets, and user needs from day one.

Air Theory Founder Jacob Treadwell-2

Meet Jacob

Jacob founded Air Theory to design clean, balanced air systems for homes and buildings that deserve better — from award-winning architecture to social housing, schools, and beyond.

With a background spanning hands-on installation, design consultancy, and system commissioning, Jacob brings a rare blend of technical depth and design sensitivity. He’s worked across residential, commercial, and civic sectors, always with the same goal: to make mechanical systems feel seamless, not secondary.

At his core, Jacob is driven by the belief that comfort, performance, and air quality should never be an afterthought — they should be part of the architecture from day one.

Mechanical Solutions

Architects and builders today face the challenge of delivering homes that are not only beautiful but also healthy, efficient, and future-ready. Balancing design vision, compliance, and client expectations — all while keeping projects on track — is no small task!

Air Theory works alongside you from day one, designing mechanical systems that fit seamlessly with your architecture, meet compliance with ease, and deliver long-term performance your clients can rely on. Backed by our AT Certification, every project comes with clear, buildable specifications, vetted contractors, and structured quality checks — ensuring what’s on paper is exactly what gets built.

When Airflow Isn’t Considered Early Enough

When ventilation isn’t considered early, designs often fall short of NCC, Passive House, or NatHERS standards — leading to costly redesigns, delays, and rework.

Mechanical systems bolted on late create confusion between teams. Without early coordination, scopes overlap, drawings clash, and installation quality suffers.

Poor airflow design can leave beautiful homes feeling stuffy, noisy, or hard to heat and cool — compromising comfort, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality.

When mechanical systems are added too late in the process, they often clash with what’s already been designed or built. This can lead to unexpected changes — like needing to upgrade duct sizes, reroute services, or install extra equipment — all of which weren’t budgeted for. These last-minute fixes quickly add up and can throw your entire project off track.
What Our Clients Value

Why Clients Choose Air Theory

We partner with architects, builders, and premium homeowners to:

We work alongside your design team from the beginning — ensuring mechanical systems align perfectly with your vision. This prevents late-stage clashes and ensures the airflow systems enhance, not interrupt, the form and function of passive and high-performing homes.

Our systems are designed to meet leading standards like NCC, NatHERS, and Passive House — without sacrificing comfort. Every detail is considered to ensure thermal performance, clean indoor air, and total building compliance from day one.

We simplify the mechanical process from consultation through to install and QA — reducing risk, avoiding miscommunication between trades, and keeping your project running smoothly.

The result? Spaces that feel as good as they look. Our systems deliver balanced, invisible airflow for healthier, quieter, and more comfortable living — especially in airtight, high-performing builds.

AT Certification

Setting the Benchmark

In an industry where overcomplicated specifications and corner-cutting are common,
AirTheory sets a clear, consistent benchmark: the AT Certification.

This certification covers both the design specifications we develop and the contractors
we approve to deliver them. To be AT Certified is to meet — and continue to meet —
a benchmark for build quality, design accuracy, and installation performance that
exceeds standard compliance.
